Year 9 GREEN Revision Books!

Over the next few weeks we will be creating revision books based on the four units we have covered this year.

You have all completed your last units mock paper- Looking For Meaning. (I will give you your grades next lesson.)

For these GREEN Photo 10-05-2016, 09 04 42

revision books to be useful you need to be able to transfer the notes/information/homework/classwork/revision sheets/mock papers into helpful revision notes.

The idea is for your green book to become your Year 9 Units Revision ‘Bible’. (No offence intended!)

You will be creating revision notes for each unit, starting in the order we covered them.

(Remember you can search for all lessons on these units by clicking on the categories in the right handle column or by searching using the tab at the top right of this page!)

Units:

  • Is it Fair

  • Our World

  • Relationships

  • Looking for Meaning

Photo 10-05-2016, 09 05 15 Photo 10-05-2016, 09 05 07

In your revision notes you will need:

  • A checklist of all you need to know for that unit
  • Specialist language- defined if need be
  • Keywords appropriate for that unit
  • Evidence- quotes, teaching, references to statistics
  • AO1 facts and information
  • Typical exam questions
  • Web references- create some QR Codes- See video below explaining how to do so.

You may make your revision notes:

  • As mind maps

  • Spider diagrams

Year 10- Exam Revision

Here is a grid we went through in lesson today.

You should fill this in with the sub topics of work within the Year 9 units of work.

This schedule should be stuck to strongly.

I EXPECT a minimum of 1 hour a day on weekends and 4 hours in total (mimimum), on weekends.

You have 25 days of revision left until your first exam.

**REMEMBER** to interleave your revision. Do not BLOCK it!

21st 22nd 23rd 24th- SAT 25th-SUN

26th 27th 28th 29th 30th-SAT

1st-SUN 2nd 3rd 4th 5th

6th 7th-SAT 8th-SUN 9th 10th

11th 12th 13th 14th-SAT 15th-SUN

After this exam, you have until June the 7th until your next exam. From May the 16th till June the 7th, that will give you 21 days until your exam.

Do the same kind of grid for your Year 10 units. A minimum of 1.5 hours a day of revision!

Year 10- Revision has begun!

During last weeks lessons and for this weeks lessons we will be looking at revising key concepts/ideas/topics and preparing ourselves for the examination.

Remember to check out the countdown timers on the right hand side of this post to see how long you have left. Also the pages at the top right hand side of this blog.

Also, don’t forget your homework. I need two quotes for each Unit broken down into subtopics, one for quote for Islam and one for Christianity. They need to be printed and bought along to lesson.

Here are the joint mind maps you created. Feel free to download, however, I have printed a copy for everybody and will give them to you next lesson!

Thanks for the ‘Tom smells, good’ comment, and the spelling of Muslim as Mozlem! 😉

I am looking into Revision Guides and when to put on revision sessions for you. At the moment the majority wanted to do Thursdays from 2.30-3.30pm- in J38. However, I have to check if this room isn’t being used by a tutor group.

Weekdays Left!

As you can see on the right hand side of this blog there is a timer/countdown letting you know how long you have until your two examination papers!

However, this website- http://www.easysurf.cc/wdate2.htm will let you know how many WEEKDAYS you have left, i.e school days!

So, as of today- you have 75 days- which is 53 school days left. This includes the 2 weeks off for Easter Holidays- which really means you have 43 days left!

For your second exam you have 97 days left, which is a total of 69 school days, minus your Easter holidays and half term, you have 54 days left!

Also- remember we only have 4 hours of lessons every two weeks!

Year 10- Online Revision- Google Forms.

Your task this lesson will be to design your very own Google Form- Quiz!

  1. You will be assigned a topic each
  2. You will have to go to drive.google.com/drive/
  3. (You will need a Google Email account.)
  4. If you do not have one, either make one quickly or come and see me!
  5. In your Google Form you will need to ask Ao1 and Ao2 questions.
  6. You need to vary your questions to include multiple choice, text and paragraph text answers.
  7. Your google form must ask for the name of the person completing it and their email address so you can email them direct feedback!
  8. You need to number your questions like you would see in the examination  paper- a,b,c,d,e
  9. Once you have completed your form you need to embed it into the PADLET below!
  10. You will then complete each others quizzes. Once complete, you will email feedback to the person that has completed your quiz, correcting and commending where relevant!

Here is a link to help explain how to create a google form!
