Year 9 GREEN Revision Books!

Over the next few weeks we will be creating revision books based on the four units we have covered this year.

You have all completed your last units mock paper- Looking For Meaning. (I will give you your grades next lesson.)

For these GREEN Photo 10-05-2016, 09 04 42

revision books to be useful you need to be able to transfer the notes/information/homework/classwork/revision sheets/mock papers into helpful revision notes.

The idea is for your green book to become your Year 9 Units Revision ‘Bible’. (No offence intended!)

You will be creating revision notes for each unit, starting in the order we covered them.

(Remember you can search for all lessons on these units by clicking on the categories in the right handle column or by searching using the tab at the top right of this page!)

Units:

  • Is it Fair

  • Our World

  • Relationships

  • Looking for Meaning

  • Specialist language- defined if need be
  • Keywords appropriate for that unit

Year 9- Is It Fair- Muslims and Money

This week we will be consolidating our learning about what Christians and Muslims think in regards to Money. Remember, money as a concept is not frowned upon, it is simply the love for money that is to be shunned!

Here is the PowerPoint and the Worksheets we will be using:

Can you match the answers to the questions?

What are all Muslims expected to be? Zakah cleanses their money and possessions from excessive desire for them or greed.
What does Sadaqah mean? The money helps people who are suffering or living in poverty.
How would a Muslim define the word ‘charity’? “He who eats and drinks while his brother goes hungry, is not one of us.”
What does the word Zakah mean? This means the act of giving from compassion, love or generosity NOT because you hope for a reward
How much money do Muslims need to contribute to Zakah? Muslims see wealth as really belonging to Allah. He is seen as the real owner and people are merely looking after his wealth.
How often is Zakah paid? Zakah is a compulsory payment and is not seen by Muslims as a charity or tax
Why do Muslims give money as part of Zakah? Zakah is paid once a year.
Who do Muslims believe is in control of wealth? All Muslims are expected to be kind and charitable
What religious teaching could be used to support the giving of Zakah? Zakah means to purify or cleanse
Do Muslims see Zakah as a form of giving to charity? Muslims need to contribute 2.5% of their income each year.
Where does the money go? Any good deed done purely and for the sake of God
