Year 9- Our World- Animals/Humans- Khalifah/Stewards

Here are the lessons we will be covering on what Muslims and Christians think about Animals.

Click here for the lesson about Animals and their rights and here for the lesson about Khalifah and Stewardship.

Religion? Teaching
Christianity “A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal” Proverbs 12:10
Islam “A good deed done to an animal is praiseworthy as a good deed done to a human being, while an act of cruelty to an animal is as bad an act of cruelty done to a human being.” Prophet Muhammad
Christianity “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten in God’s sight.”  Luke 12:6
Christianity “It is right that we should show love and compassion for people, surely it is right that we should extend our love and compassion to animals, who can feel fear and experience pain in much the same way as humans. They may not be able to speak, but we can certainly see fear in their eyes and demeanour.” Quaker faith and practice 25.06
Christianity “All the animals, birds and fish, will live in fear of you. They are all placed under your power.” Genesis 9:2
Islam Muslims are permitted to eat meat provided the animals has been well cared for and killed in a humane manner. The Muslim method of slaughter is called halal.
Islam On Judgment Day, Allah will judge Muslims on the way that they have treated his creation.

Here are two worksheets that will help you interpret what religions feel about Animals:
